Things to know about TULSI

Every home with a Tulasi plant is a place of pilgrimage, and no diseases, messengers of Yama, the God of Death, can enter it.”


Tulsi is the most commonly planted herb in Indian household. Besides being a wonder medicinal plant, it has religious and Vastu significane too.
 
It you too have planted Tulsi at your home, there are certain things you must know because although it has many benefits, it can have some damaging results too if you are not careful.

Don’t offer Tulsi leaves on shivling

When NOT to pluck leaves
Never pluck the leaves of Tulsi plant on Sundays, Ekadashi (11th day of Lunar cycle) and at the time of Lunar or Solar eclipse. It is considered inauspicious.

When to dispose it
If Tulsi plant dries, immerse it in a holy river or a pond. Keeping a dry Tulsi plant brings bad luck. A new one should then be brought and planted at home.

What plants NOT to keep near it
Tulsi is considered a female plant. Never keep cactus and thorny plants next to Tulsi. Flowering plants, however, can be kept in its close vicinity. This will ensure health and happiness in the house.

When to worship it
Tulsi plant should be worshipped daily in the morning as it a powerhouse of oxygen, and merely breathing near it can kill many infections in the body. In the evenings, light an earthen lamp (diya) near it.

Best direction to plant Tulsi
According to Vastu, choose North or North-East direction of the house or balcony to keep a Tulsi plant.
Things not to keep around Tulsi
At times people keep cleaning material, mopping stuff or broom near Tulsi. Avoid that.

How to consume it
In ayurveda, Tulsi is used as a medicine. Consuming one to two leaves of Tulsi everyday boosts the immune system and keeps fever and viral infections at bay.

Nithya Puja Prasadam, Nara Drishti

Please offer following things as a part of Nithya Pooja Naivedhyam. At least, Sugar can be offered Daily

1. COCONUT
2. Fruit ( banana /Mango/Date)
3. Panakam Vada pappu
4. Patika bellam (offer this for 40 days to god and eat yourself to get good voice/speech). Khadi        Shakkar.
5. Jaggery
6. Sugar

Read Mani Dweepam  ( Parayanam).



Lime/Nimbu gives  Karya Siddhi. It gives protection. Use lime in Pooja. removes Drishti Dosham .

Lime with Kumkum  to be used.

Tulsi should be on East side on the Entrance.

Sweep home  from North East direction  and Dust Bin should be at South West or  North West. Home should be Swept before Sun rise or before Sunset. 


Nara Drishti:-

sweep home with salt water. On purnima, take sea bath to remove nara dosha,

salt and red chillies should be used to remove Drishti.

Gomati chakram should be rotated around man thrice and break into powder and throw into fire.
Rotate coconuts on sundays around persons and throw out to make Tup Noice

add black color on egg and rotate 3 times on person and throw over the head towards back to break.

wear gandham  and kumkum to avoid nara drishti

Jeedi/chillies/lime/ gurrapu nada (horse shoe) or iron nail together hang them in front of home.

Gold as per Astrology

According to astrology, each metal influences body in a different way. Gold is considered an auspicious metal, and known to possess energy that brings warmth & soothing vibrations to the body which aids healing. Ayurveda also has documented benefits of wearing gold on specific parts of the body. 
 
Indians are aware that each metal (like iron, diamond, gold etc.) has a connection to a particular planet. These planets influence our horoscopes and give good or bad results accordingly. As far as gold is concerned, there are some things you should be careful about while keeping gold at home or wearing its ornaments/jewellery on your body.

Don't wear gold during pregnancy
Pregnant ladies should avoid wearing gold. Wearing a small ring or earings won't harm, but too much gold may cause problems as this metal is known to generate heat and energy in the body.

To increase prosperity, do this
Keep gold in a red cloth or yellow (if red is not available). Keeping saffron (kesar) along with it attracts prosperity.

Health effects of wearing gold
Wear a gold ring in little finger if you are suffering from cough or respiratory problems. People suffering from obesity, or who are short-tempered should avoid wearing too much gold.

Most auspicious metal
Gold in never considered inauspicious. According to scriptures, if a person returns from a cremation ground, then pouring water in which gold has been kept could cleanse him.

Vastu- Home Decor items

Clocks
Wall clocks if kept in the right direction results in positive energy floating in the house. While hanging them in wrong direction may lead to wrong results. 
Don't hang a clock in these places:
1) Above a door
2) On the south wall of the house (South is the direction of god of death, Yama)
 
Hang the clock on a wall in the East, West or North direction. It signifies that when you look at time, you are looking in positive directions, where positive energy resides.


Running water showpiece
Water is one of the strongest elements of Vaastu Shastra and running water in house is considered to be a good luck charm. This is the reason why many people buy small waterfalls and aquariums as they serve both the purposes of decoration and auspicious lifestyle! 
You should avoid placing these items in the North East direction. 
 

7 Horses painting
The painting of 7 horses running generates positive thoughts, and hence produces good vibes in a household, especially improving the finances. 
However, don't hang this painting in these 3 places:
1) Near the entrance door, facing outside
2) In an area facing the washroom or kitchen
3) On a wall that has a window on the opposite side

Mirrors
Mirrors can reflect back negative energy by the law of reflection, hence a power tool to neutralize Vastu defects in the house. It is ideal to purchase a square or rectangualr shaped mirror, and keep it in the North-East direction. Place it 4-5 feet above the ground

Money plant
This plant keeps the house open to financial wellbeing. It is auspicious to keep it in the North-East direction
