HOW TO USE PANCHANGAM
Panchangam means five angas or parts. They are
(1)Day (2)Tithi (3)Nakshatram (4)Yogam (5) Karnam
These five parts gives us a view about the day. They tell us either the day is good or bad to start our new works, journeys etc. They tell us which time is good? which time is bad in a day. Panchangam's are two types.
1.Chandra mana panchangam's 2.Surya mana panchangam's
- Chandra mana panchangam's are calculated according to the movement of planet MOON
- Surya mana Panchangam's are calculated according to the movement of planet SUN
- Tithi - Importance:
We have 16 Tithi's according to our vedic panchanga sidhanthams. They are 1.PADYAMI 2.DVITIYA 3.TRITIYA 4.CHATURDHI 5.PANCHAMI 6.SASHTI 7.SAPTAMI 8.ASHTAMI 9. NAVAMI 10. DASAMI 11.EKADASI 12.DWADASI 13.TRYODASI 14.CHATURDASI 15.POWRNAMI 16.AMAVASYA
Among the 16 Tithi's some give good results and some give bad results. Dvitiya, Tritiya , Panchami, Sashti, Saptami, Dasami, Ekadasi , Dwadasi , Tryodasi, Powrnami are good to all most all. Remaining Tithi's better to avoid to start our new works, journey's etc. Panchangam gives the ending time of a specific Tithi for that specific day. After the mentioned time the next Tithi will be started.
Nakshatra's - Importance:
We have 27 nakshatram's. they are 1. ASWINI 2.BHARANI 3.KRITIKA 4.ROHINI 5.MRIGASIRA 6.ARUDRA 7.PUNARVASU 8.PUSHYAMI 9. ASLESHA 10.MAGHA 11.PURVA PHALGUNI 12.UTTARA PAHLGUNI 13.HASTA 14. CHITTA 15. SWATI 16.VISAKHA 17. ANURADHA 18.JYESTA 19.MULA 20.PURVASHADA 21.UTTARASHADA 22.SRAVANAM 23.DHANISHTA 24. SATABHISHAM 25.PURVA BHADRA 26.UTTARA BHADRA 27.REVATI
Panchangam gives the ending time of nakshatra in a day. After the ending time of one nakshatra the next nakshatra will be started. We can decide whether the nakshatra of a day is suitable to us or not by calculating Tara balam. By calculating Tara balam we have to use the nakshatram for our works.
Yogam & Karanam - Importance:
We have 27 Yogam's and 11 Karanam's. These have much importance in deciding a Subha Muhurtams. We are not describing these two parts as they have no much importance in our daily life
VARJYAM
Varjyam can be described as the bad time which should be left in a day for starting good events , subhakaryam's and starting new events, starting journeys etc.
Varjyam is calculated based on the star or nakshatra. Every nakshatra has some bad time which is called as VARJYAM. It is not a fixed time period for a day. You can find the varjyam in panchangam. Panchangam gives us the starting and ending points of Varjyam period every day. We should avoid the time between the starting and ending points.
DURMUHURTAM
Durmuhurtam is the time, which should be avoided for starting a work/ travel / making new deals etc. It is calculated based on suryodayam (sun raise) timing. But several people follow a standard table for Durmuhurtams. We are giving here that table.

PANCHAKA RAHITAM
Panchaka rahitam is an important thing in selecting a muhurtham. You can find whether a muhurta is fixed according to this panchaka rahita rule or not by following formula
Number of tithi + num.of day + num.of muhurtha nakshatram + num.of muhurtha lagna = total
Divide the total with 9 and get the sesham / reminder. The sesham / reminder should not be 1,2,4,6,8. A subha muhurtams which is panchaka rahit is much better than a muhurtham which is not panchaka rahit.
TAARABALM / HOW TO CALCULATE TARABALAM ?
Taarablam is important in selecting a muhurthams to an individual or to know whether a nakshatra is good or not to start things. There are totally 9 types of taarabalam's in astrology. They are
JANMA TAARA
SAMPATH TAARA
VIPATH TAARA
KSHEMA TAARA
PRATYAK TAARA
SAADHANA TAARA
NIDHANA TAARA
MITRA TAARA
PARAMA MITRA TAARA
In the above taaras 2,4,6,8,9 are good for any muhurta.
HOW TO CALCULATE THE TAARABALAM?
Calculate the number of stars from the birth star / janma nakshatra to the star / nakshatra of the muhurtha time or to the nakshatra on the needed day. Then divide the number by 9 and get the sesham/ reminder. The sesham / reminder will be the taarabalam of the muhurtams or of the needed day.

Mudami
In our navagraha's jupiter and venus are known as BRAHMANA GRAHA'S. When planet sun passes from one sign to another sign in GOCHARA CHAKRAM, at some particular period he meets either planet jupiter or venus in some sign of gochara chakram. Due to this conjugation the planet which is combined with sun becomes powerless and it won't give positive results. This period is called asMUDHAMI.
- If jupiter conjugates with sun that particular period is called as GURU MUDHAMI.
- If venous conjugates with sun that particular period is called as SUKRA MUDHAMI.
