Crows and Omens

Animals and birds are connected to various beliefs in Hindu religion. As far as crows are concerned, there are some signs and omens connected with this bird. According to an ancient belief, crows are the linkage between the dead and living humans (thus sometimes referred to as our ancestors), and it is understood that this bird can predict our future.

If a crow comes in front of a traveler and starts to caw loudly and then leaves, it indicates success in his work or travel plans. On the other hand, if the crow is seen sitting on a pot full of water, the person who sees it is going to get rich.

Crowing on Pot full of Water indicates that your financial situation will improve.

If a crow is seen carrying a roti (flat bread), piece of flesh, etc in its mouth, it is a sign of good news

If it drops that piece of flesh on a person, it can be inauspicious, In some cultures, it is considered as a news of death. If a flying crow beats on a person’s head, he/she can suffer from some illness.

If a group of crows make noise, that particular place, which can be a home, village or office, could get a bad news. Also, the owner of that particular place can land into trouble.

If a crow lands on the head of a man, he/she can lose respect in society due to a scandal or be humiliated. If a crow sits on a woman’s head, her husband can get into trouble.

If you see a crow coming from the South-East direction in the evening, it indicates monetary gain.

If a crow caws loudly along with continuously flipping its wings, it is said to be giving the message of death.
